What is Acupunture ?
Acupuncture is a form of treatment that involves inserting very thin needles through a person’s skin at specific points on the body, to various depths.According to the Classical Chinese Medicine that we study at the National University of Natural medicine, Classical Acupuncture is an ancient modality which involves the treatment of specific points along meridians ignorer to rebalance the Qi or energy, and the blood through the body and in the internal organs . It is based on the principles of meridian energetics and it is holistic approach to balance the body.
How does it work ?
Inserting the needles in these points is said to stimulate and to bring the energy flow back into proper balance and harmonize the Qi . Qi is believed to flow through the meridians in the human boy which meridians can be accessed through the acupuncture points in the body.
What inspired you to study Acupuncture?
I was specifically drawn to classical acupuncture due to its basis on the original practices on the ancient classical texts, I love history and philosophy and I think they are important in medicine . I did my preceptorship with an An Acupuncturist and I was amazed at how she talked about the human body and she treated her patients and many times her patients improved or cured . Now that I'm studying it I have fallen even deeper in love with it .
Why should women try Acupuncture ?
Acupuncture treatment can be used as a stand alone treatment for various women conditions, or asa complement along other treatments , or to manage side effects of other treatments . It can also be used for general wellness
